Admissions Requirements

Candidates for the Master in Applied Econometrics and Forecasting must:

  • Present a degree in national or foreign institutions in the areas of Management, Economics, Finance, Mathematics Applied to Economics and Management or other areas relevant to the study cycle. Applicants with other degrees are welcome and will be considered case-by-case.

  • In accordance with Article 17 d) of Decree-Law No. 74/2006 of March 24, as amended and republished by Decree-Law No. 65/2018 of August 16, other applications deemed appropriate by the selection panel will be evaluated on the basis of curricular analysis.

  • Students who have not completed the cycle of studies leading to a bachelor’s degree may apply conditionally, provided they meet the conditions for obtaining the degree by the end of September (of the academic year of application).


Ranking and Selection Criteria

The ranking is based on the application grade, which will be calculated using the process described below. It only applies to students who meet the prerequisites.

  • Final average of 1st cycle or equivalent – Scale 0 to 20 – Weighting 40%
  • 1st cycle course area – Scale 0 to 20 – Weighting 10%
  • Quantitative methods UC classification – Scale 0 to 20 – Weighting 20%
  • Work experience / School of 1st cycle – Scale 0 to 20 – Weighting 25%
  • Motivation letter – Scale 0 to 20 – Weighting 5%

These are provisional tuition fees for 2025/26, subject to confirmation by the Universidade de Lisboa statutory bodies.

Student Visa

If you are not an EU, EEA, or Swiss citizen, you need a Student VISA.
Once you have decided to join the master’s programme and paid the 1st tuition fee to secure your place, you can issue the acceptance letter on the FENIX Portal. This document will be needed later to apply for a Student Visa. The student visa must be requested at the nearest Portuguese Embassy or Consular Office in the country of origin.
