Objectivos
Based on an updated bibliography, this course aims to deepen the critical study of development as a long-term process of societal transformation. The recurrence of the debate at the heart of social sciences on "Development" as a category of analysis leads us to consider the question of modernity and its relation to societal change.

Metodologia de avaliação
1.A short essay exploring one of the major works/authors addressed in the first part of the syllabus.
2.A paper dealing with each student?s dissertation research topic considering the trajectory of development thinking addressed in the second part of the syllabus.
