Career Planning & Development

When your course ends, life after ISEG will take its course. So it's time to start making plans about what you want to do after you stop being a student.

There are many ways to approach career management, so find the one that works best for you.

Think about your priorities, discover your alternatives and prepare for the next steps.

Here are some food points to help you through the process.

  • Who are you and what do you want to become?
  • What are you looking for in the short and medium term?
  • Find out how the job market works.
  • Know yourself and evaluate yourself: self-knowledge increases the chances of feeling fulfilled throughout your professional career.
  • Know your life and career priorities so that you can make appropriate and informed choices.

What does self-knowledge involve?

  • Identify your interests, what you really like to do.
  • Reflect on your skills, strengths and weaknesses, values and personality traits.
  • Ask for feedback from people who know you well and list the skills you have already used and developed during your studies, internships/jobs, hobbies, extracurricular activities, etc. Later, identify what your strengths are and what you need to develop to make your plans come true.
  • Thinking about times when time went by so quickly that you didn't even notice! In those situations, you were probably using one or more of your strengths. Strengths, in terms of skills, are those that usually make you feel energized.

We believe these reflections will help you make decisions now and in the future.

The activities below can help you identify skills, strengths, values and personality traits.

  • Make an appointment to discuss your self-assessment with a Career Consultant. We can help you develop your self concept, thinking about your skills, characteristics, values, motivations and understanding how these can relate to possible career choices.
