A Workshop "ChatGPT and artificial intelligence tools: responsible use in science and higher education" will take place on the 2nd May in the Great Hall of the Rectorate of ULisboa, at 14.30.
The responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in science and higher education is a topic of widespread debate and concern, especially with the emergence of ChatGPT and other similar tools. In this context, Universidade de Lisboa share important knowledge and considerations for its community, including faculty, researchers, technical and administrative staff and students.
Banning the use of AI would be ineffective, but rather there is a need to adopt approaches to ensure that these tools are used effectively and appropriately, in alignment with the University's mission, goals, and values. Universidade de Lisboa encourages debate about the immediate consequences of AI on learning and teaching and research and innovation, as well as the broader role of the University in relation to the impact of AI on society. The objective is to monitor the development of these technologies, consult with experts, and share advice and best practices as regarding the use of artificial intelligence tools as they evolve.
