Round Table and Inauguration of the Exhibition "MACAU in Contrasts (2010-2018)"

On June 8, takes place in the Cloisters of ISEG the opening of the photography exhibition "MACAU in Contrasts (2010-2018)"by Marisa C. Gaspar, anthropologist and researcher at the SOCIUS/CSG-ISEGUniversity of Lisbon.

The inauguration takes place at 19h30, on the 3rd floor of the Quelhas Building and will be open until June 30.

"Macao in Contrasts (2010-2018)" is an exhibition of the vast photographic collection that the anthropologist and researcher has been collecting throughout her various ethnographic fieldwork in Macao. The exhibition is itinerant and is part of the dissemination activities of her postdoctoral project "Eating and Power: The Economy of Culture in Macao"hosted by SOCIUS/CSG-ISEG, with the aim of portraying and communicating to the general public the ethnographic research developed there between the years 2010 and 2018.

Prior to the opening of the exhibition, an open house will be held on June 8, at 6:00 p.m., in Auditorium 2 of ISEG (floor 2 of the Quelhas Building). Round table discussion on the theme of the photography exhibition. The event is supported by FCT - Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P. (UID/04521/2020), and will be attended by Sara Falcão Casaca (Professor at ISEG and President SOCIUS/CSG-ISEG, University of Lisbon) and Marisa C. Gaspar (SOCIUS/CSG-ISEG, University of Lisbon). Gaspar (SOCIUS/CSG-ISEG, University of Lisbon) and with the participation of the guests, Andreia Silva (journalist at Hoje Macau), Fernanda Ilhéu (professor at ISEG, University of Lisbon and president of the Friends of the New Silk Road Association), Énio Souza (researcher at the Institute of Ethnomusicology, NOVA University Lisbon) and Carlos Fraga and Helena Madeira (producers, LivreMeio Produções) and Isabel Nunes (painter).

Biographical notes of the Round Table guests:

Andreia Silva, Hoje Macau Journalist
Andreia Silva has a degree in Journalism from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Coimbra and after 11 years living in Macau she currently resides in Portugal, working as a correspondent for the daily Hoje Macau. She is pursuing a master's degree in Contemporary History and researching Macao's history is one of her passions. 

Fernanda Ilhéu, Professor ISEG
He has spent his entire career in the field of international business, having lived in Macao for 18 years, where he held positions of responsibility in both the public and private sectors. He was also a part-time lecturer at the University of Macau from 1982 until 1996. In his academic career since 1972, he has taught and coordinated several units and curricular programs in the areas of economics and management with emphasis on international business and marketing and economics and business in China and Asia-Pacific economy.

Carlos Fraga and Helena Madeira, Producers LivreMeio
Director and managing partner of Livremeio - Audiovisual Producer. Among his documentary production, the highlight is the realization, between 2015 and October 2019, of a series of six documentaries entitled "Macau, 20 years later", shot between Macau and Lisbon, with several screenings in the room and broadcasts on RTP.

Énio Souza, researcher in the field of traditional Chinese music
Researcher and PhD student at the Institute of Ethnomusicology - Center for Studies in Music and Dance of the New University of Lisbon (FCSH-UNL). He is coordinator of the annual conference Chinese Music and Musical Instruments.She was responsible for the educational service at the Museum of the Macao Scientific and Cultural Center in Lisbon. She worked at the Macao Cultural Affairs Bureau on various performing arts and music projects for 16 years.

Isabel Nunes, painter
Graduated in History, Art History option, from Universidade Nova de Lisboa. She attended the Painting Course at the Macau Academy of Visual Arts (1991/1993) where she lived for 5 years. She has held several solo and group exhibitions in Portugal and abroad and is represented in several public and private collections in Portugal, Macau and the United Kingdom.
