“Breve", the Winter Concert by Universidade de Lisboa Chamber Choir (CCUL) of the Choral Association of Universidade de Lisboa (ACUL) will take place in ISEG's CGD Auditorium,, on 25 January 2025, at 19.00, as part of the Music at the Universidade de Lisboa initiative.
Breve is a concert about the small plenitudes that we experience, that nourish us, that motivate us - it's about the nothingness that overwhelms us, the sunrise that takes so long, the loves that we have, the peace - and that which so easily escapes us.
Filled with music from the transition from the 19th to the 20th century, this concert features some treasures from the masters of romantic and impressionist music and, from the present day, music for a cappella choir, voice and piano and solo piano. In these centuries of great transformations and the desire for new forms of expression, the heritage of the sublime has given way to impressions and the plurality of eternities lived. In addition to the numerous works performed, we highlight the performance during this concert of Liebeslieder Walzer, Op. 52 by Brahms, Poemário Pessoa by Eurico Carrapatoso, and the Piano Sonata No. 2, Op. 26, by Fernando Lopes-Graça.
Works by Brahms, Boulanger, Poulenc, Villa-Lobos, Lopes-Graça, Bochmann, Carrapatoso and Camacho.
