Synopsis

Set in the West African nation of Guinea-Bissau, this thought-provoking film takes you on a journey that follows courageous local women who challenge norms, assert their role through agroecology, oppose female genital mutilation and forced marriage while challenging patriarchy in every aspect, creating institutions that promote self-sufficiency. Carrying on the legacy of Amílcar Cabral, Guinea-Bissau's independence leader who put women's rights at the heart of the liberation struggle, a rising generation of women is taking back their power.
