Resumo
This study aims to analyze the feasibility of using Lean techniques integrated with QMS to promote sustainable practices in the hotel industry, while enhancing operational efficiency. By applying the PDCA cycle and Lean thinking, the research explores how these methodologies can drive continuous improvement in key hotel operations, such as waste reduction, energy management, and resource optimization, all while aligning with sustainability goals.
A case study of an hotel in Lisbon – HSJL, is used to demonstrate the practical benefits of implementing Lean practices within a QMS framework, revealing significant improvements in operational performance, cost reduction, and environmental impact in real-world operations. The results indicate that, the adoption of Lean practices within a QMS framework not only streamlines hotel processes and improves operational performance but also supports long-term sustainability goals by minimizing waste, conserving resources, and promoting both environmental and social responsibility.
The work concludes by highlighting the competitive advantages for the hotel sector, including improved guest satisfaction, enhanced brand reputation, and a stronger commitment to environmental responsibility, positioning hotels for success in an increasingly eco-conscious market.
