The Impact of Social Media Use on International Alumni Engagement: The Case of ISEG

Resumo
This study explores the impact of the Internet, especially popular social media platforms, on the engagement of international alumni from ISEG-Lisbon School of Economics and Management. Specifically, the relationship between alumni engagement and the frequency of social media use and the frequency of use of the ISEG network alumni community was investigated. Referred by prior studies, alumni engagement is defined here as including four components: communication engagement, experiential engagement, volunteer engagement, and philanthropic engagement. To explore this topic, this study produced a questionnaire for data collection and analyzed by Stata. The outcomes showed that no correlations were shown between ISEG's international alumni engagement and the social media use frequency, however, the time spending in the ISEG online community was positively correlated with international alumni engagement. And will have a positive impact on alumni's willingness to engage in the future. In addition, the research conducted qualitative research on the preferences of ISEG international alumni towards network communities and made suggestions.
