This information is only valid for undergraduate students. The Prescription regime does not apply to other ISEG study cycles.
Prescriptions
The prescription system to be adopted for the 1st cycle courses at the Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão is the result of Law no. 37/2003, of August 22, and aims to promote student accountability, understood in the sense that students must show adequate academic achievement, justifying, by their merit, access to the social good they benefit from: their education and training. According to Law no. 37/2003, a student who has been suspended is prevented from applying or enrolling on that or any other course for the following two semesters.
These regulations will come into force from the 2012-2013 school year, as follows:
For students with less than 60 ECTS credits by the end of the 2011-2012 academic year, table I applies;
For students with a number of ECTS credits equal to or greater than 60 and less than 120 by the end of the 2011-2012 academic year, table II applies;
For students with a number of ECTS credits equal to or greater than 120 and less than 180 by the end of the 2011-2012 academic year, table III applies.
Table I is applied to all students entering the 2012/2013 school year.

For example, in order to register for a fourth course, according to Table I, you must have passed at least 60 ECTS credits in previous years and in order to register for a fifth course you must have passed 120 ECTS credits.
Notes:
Students who find themselves in one of the situations listed in article 3 of the Prescription Regulations have a special prescription situation.
If you are a student worker, make sure you apply for this status in good time, so that your registration is not counted towards the statute of limitations.
At ISEG, during the year of the prescription, the student can attend UniteddIsolated curricular actions of your course. When you apply for re-entry, you can request accreditation.
Information on the dates of publication of the prescription lists see here.
The statute of limitations is the act by which a student's enrollment is suspended for two consecutive semesters following repeated academic failure. All students who, in the academic year in question, meet the conditions set out in the regulations on time-barring may be time-barred, with the exception of students who have student-worker status.
How prescriptions are applied
In accordance with the terms of Law 37/2003, students who meet the prescription conditions will not be able to enroll in the school year of prescription.
Who the requirements apply to
The prescription system applies to undergraduate students.
I'm at risk of lapsing. Next year I can register for isolated curricular units.
Yes. However, you must apply for accreditation after re-entry (you should check the deadlines for this).
If it expires, what are the implications and what alternatives do I have?
If your period of limitation expires, you will not be able to enroll in your current course or any other course for two consecutive semesters. After this period, you can apply for re-enrolment without limitation on the number of vacancies, and the counts for the new period of limitation are those set out in the tables of the regulations on limitation in force (point no. 3 - article 4).
In the year of expiry, the only course you can continue to take is the single course. You can request that these be credited after re-entry.
After the period of suspension of enrollment, the student can return. How to proceed
Yes. Students who have been suspended must apply for re-entry by the deadline for applications if they wish to return. Re-entry is always guaranteed and does not depend on the existence of vacancies.
In the event of interruption of studies, cancellation of enrollment or cancellation of registration, the previous school years will be counted towards the statute of limitations upon re-entry.
No. Students who have voluntarily interrupted their studies and later resume them, since they are doing so under the same system that covers transfers, course changes and re-entries, the new limitation period will be counted as set out in the tables of the limitation regulations in force (paragraph 3 - article 4).
I'm a student worker. I run the risk of getting a statute of limitations.
The beneficiaries of the Student Worker status are exempt from the statute of limitations, i.e. the school years in which the student had this status are not taken into account when calculating the statute of limitations.
If it's time-barred, I can apply for a school transfer. I'm off the statute of limitations.
According to Law no. 37/2003, of August 22, a student's right to enrol and register for that course is forfeited if he or she fails to meet the applicable criteria and he or she is prevented from reapplying for that or any other course in the following two semesters.
During the period of limitation I have to pay tuition fees.
No, as you will not be able to register for the course, no fees will be due.
If it expires, the curricular units previously taken at ISEG will be credited when I apply for re-entry.
Yes, they are credited (according to nº4 - article 8 - Ordinance 401/2007 of April 5th).
Where can I find information about my prescription status?
Students can check their status on the Aquila Portal under "Prescription Status" or at the Undergraduate Secretariat.
I've already been prescribed once. I can prescribe it again
