Método de Avaliação

Classes comprise lectures and exercises. Therefore, theoretical models are considered together with examples, exercises and empirical analysis of real data.

The final grade, in a scale of 0 to 20, is awarded as follows.

A minimum final grade of 10 is required to pass the course.

1.      Assessment is made through two possible ways:

1.1.   Written final exam with 2h duration.

1.2.   Continuing Assessment, according to section 3.

2.      Common rules to all exams:

2.1.   Each student can take, to the written tests and exams, an approved calculator and the form and the tables on the course page. The forms and tables must be downloaded and printed (front and back). The form and the tables can not contain any personal annotation under penalty of disqualification.

2.2.   When the classification of any exam or when the final grade is higher than 17, the student will be asked to complete a supplementary (written and/or oral) test. The no-show to the supplementary test implies the final grade of 17.

2.3.     If there are less than 10 students enrolled for the Special Take ("Época Especial"), the written exam may be replaced by an oral one.

3.      Continuing Assessment : the continuing assessment comprises all the following components:

3.1.   Project Work (PW): a project work consisting in applying each concept achieved in each chapter to real data. The data to be used is provided to the students. Students may search and use other data, if approved by the Professors. A written report of the project work must be delivered by the 14 th of December.

3.2.   Mid Term Test (T1): individual written test with 1h duration, taking place on the Midterm Assessment Week (according to the official ISEG's calendar) and covering all the material covered until the week before. The rules for the Midterm test can be found on the course webpage.

3.3.   Final Term Test (T2): individual written test with 1h duration, taking place on the last practical lesson (on December 14 th) and covering all the material not covered in the Mid Term Test (T1).

3.4.   Compulsory Class Attendance: the continuing assessment implies a minimum attendance of 85% of the total number of classes of the semester, including both theoretical and practical classes.

3.5.   The final grade using continuing assessment is given by:

FG = 0.15*PW + 0.425*T1 + 0.425*T2

3.6.   When the final grade is higher than 17, the student will be asked to complete a supplementary (written and/or oral) test. The no-show to the supplementary test implies the final grade of 17.

3.7.   Students enrolled in continuing assessment may try to increase the grade of the sum of the Mid Term and Final Term tests together on the Normal Exam Take ("Exame Normal") date, but not on the Second Exam Take ("Exame Recurso"). Notice that, on the Normal Exam Take date, it is not possible to increase the grade of one of the Mid Term or Final Term tests isolated.
